I have contacted a new supplier and they have informed me that they require a minimum order quantity (MOQ) in order to open an account. Should I make this order?

This objection response is covered in the 'Supplier FAQ Responses' sheet that can be downloaded in Week 4 underneath module 4.3.

Here is the advice provided by Lewis:

Overcoming Objections Secret #2: Passing-on the initial order to our customers

They want you to commit to a minimum initial order amount - this is because they want to know you are serious.

You can agree to this by uploading their products onto your website then wait until your first sale comes in. Then we place this as our initial order with them and have it sent to our freight forwarder.

  •  E.g If the products are £800 and they want a minimum initial order of £500.
  • Simply upload their products on your site.
  • Then once you make your first sale with them, have them send this to your warehouse (freight forwarder).
  • Then the freight forwarder sends it on to your customer's address.
  • This overcomes the objection with no risk to you. E.g. no upfront investment in-stock required
  • And after this initial order, every future order is dispatched “direct to customer”
