Do I need an EORI number?

EORI stands for “Economic Operators Registration and Identification number”.

Businesses and people wishing to trade must use the EORI number as an identification number in all customs procedures when exchanging information with Customs administrations.

Do I need an EORI number?

If you are only working with UK suppliers with stock in the UK you do not need to consider an EORI number.

You will only need to apply and have an EORI number if you are importing/exporting goods into/out of the UK.

This means that if you are working with a supplier in the EU, they will likely require you to have an EORI number in order to delivery your orders to UK customers.

How do I apply for an EORI number?

It is a simple process. Go to the Gov.uk and enter your business details in order to receive your EORI number and then you can start importing/exporting goods through your business. Here is the link - https://www.gov.uk/eori/apply-for-eori

Why are EORI numbers required?

Having one common type of identification number across the EU is more efficient, both for economic operators and customs authorities.
It is also more efficient for statistical purposes and security purposes.
