How can I increase my margin with suppliers?
Margins are key to lower the ROAS bar for our ad campaigns to achieve. Therefore the higher the margin we can negotiate, the easier it will be for our campaigns to run profitably quickly.
To improve the margin that you have currently negotiated with your supplier, the good news is that there is often room to improve your margin if you approach your contact in a positive way.
When contacting them, frame your request with their interests front and centre of your mind. Explain that you would like to invest more significantly in their brand as you see potential for a great partnership with you generating multiple orders for them every week. However at this time you are unable to invest extensively because the margin you have agreed does not allow enough room for significant marketing spend. Then ask if they would like you to be able to invest more into increasing their brand awareness and offer you a higher margin.
Keep their interests in mind because they will only agree to a better margin if they can see what is in it for them as well! This is also best done over the phone.
This may take some time and having some sales history will also help your cause as you can lean on this for more leverage. Remember to approach the conversation with a smile on your face so that you have a cheerful and positive attitude. The more rapport you can build with your suppliers, the more likely they will be to work with you collaboratively.
