I am finding it difficult to get in contact with a supplier. How can I ensure that I can get them signed up?
If you have identified that the supplier you are contacting is already working with your direct competitors, you can be confident that they will be interested in working with you as well to increase their sales numbers. Unfortunately, suppliers can be busy and miss the opportunity when you first get in touch whether that is by phone, email or contact form.
To ensure that you can sign this supplier, persistence will be the key. Call them daily and follow up with emails. Keep the phone calls and emails light hearted and friendly to ensure they can see that you are a real person with positive intentions. With enough persistence, they will see that you are serious and will eventually engage. The key is knowing that they already work with direct competitors so you can be sure that they will be open to your offer once they have time to review it.
If you are confident or getting signs that they are interested but you have not yet received formal approval, you could go ahead and start uploading their products. Then once you have the official go ahead to be an authorised retailer, you can make those products live on your website and marketing campaigns immediately!
Also, check for new numbers and email addresses to try. It may be the case that they are more active on one email address compared to another. Browse their website for longer and try Googling different search terms, e.g. [insert supplier name] wholesale contact number etc. until you are presented with new ways to get through to them.
Remember that persistence is key and that this is one of the most valuable tasks that you can complete. Signing a new supplier can be the difference that doubles your revenue overnight so keep picking up the phone and making contact.
